PupUpApplication - Miraval Portuguese Water Dogs PWD puppies

If you are interested in a puppy or PupUp please fill out this application. It’s really just the starting point for a conversation. It will give me some basic information about you and your family and help keep me organized.

Since breeding my first litter in 2002 I have never seen so much interest in PWD puppies. The most names I have had prior to this was a list of 30 names in 2008. In 2020 I have had over 70 and I get at least a few inquiries a day.

This is an application for PupUp. She is 3.5 years old and will do best as an only dog, where she can be the center of attention. She needs to live in a home with a fenced yard. While in general PWDs can do fine in an apartment or condo, PupUp has lived in the country for a few years. I think if she lived in a building with other units she might alert when other people came home.

PWDs are not good dogs for young children or people who are not steady on their feet. If you have young children I recommend that you consider other breeds or wait until they grow up a little.

If you haven't owned a PWD how much time have you spent with them?
Just like you would never buy a car without test driving it, you can't decide if a PWD is the right dog for you without spending time with some. I know it's hard to do that, especially now, but it's important. The Portuguese Water Dog group on FB is a good place to read about other people's experiences with their dogs and puppies and to find people who might live near you and allow a socially distanced visit.

In the spring I will again start setting up visits to meet my dogs.
Owning a PWD can be a challenge. Its like having a toddler for many, many years.
I/we know, I've already had a PWD. I've had experience training a different breed of dog. I've owned a dog, but didn't do much training. I/we haven't had a dog as an adult.
